SIDBT – Italian Society for the Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a scientific association founded in 2011 with the aim of spreading the Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in Italy according to criteria of adherence and fidelity to the original model developed by Marsha M. Linehan.
Since 2023 SIDBT is a Third Sector (ETS) entity and is registered in the National Single Register of the Third Sector (RUNTS) with number 3487. This passage represents a further recognition of his scientific, training and social mission.
SIDBT promotes a DBT based on evidence, consistent with international protocols and adapted to different Italian clinical contexts. Our main activities are spread over four areas:
Support the application of DBT rigorously, ensuring accessible and transparent treatments for patients and families, in line with the scientifically validated model.
Train new therapists through structured, supervised and aligned paths to international standards, ensuring the learning and application of DBT’s core skills.
Provide constant support to professionals through periodic clinical supervision, in order to maintain the high quality of the interventions in the different centers present on the national territory.
Promote and disseminate scientific studies and results on the effectiveness of DBT in Italy, contributing to the progress of the discipline and the continuous updating of the clinical community.
Since 2011 SIDBT shares its training programmes with Behavioral Tech (BTECH), the body founded by Marsha Linehan for the diffusion and development of DBT in the world. Thanks to this direct collaboration, SIDBT is recognised as Affiliated Company, together with other reference bodies in several countries. SIDBT is also:
These partnerships testify to our commitment to maintaining International standards of excellence, encouraging the development of DBT in accordance with the Basic principles of the model.
