PART TWO October/November (Dates to be defined)

DESCRIPTION OF INTENSIVE TRAINING

Objectives: The DBT Intensive Training is a comprehensive study program designed for DBT teams who want to learn how to apply the DBT in an adherent and effective way, forming according to international standards.

Contents: the course includes basic theoretical assumptions, conceptualization, structure, strategies, procedures and protocols of the standard DBT.

Duration and programme: The duration of the training is about one year.

Our courses are designed according to the international standard of Btech, an international reference body for the delivery of DBT training worldwide.

TO WHOSE RETURNS

The training is aimed at mental health professionals – psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, child neuropsychiatrists, educators, TERPs, nurses – who form a DBT team (minimum 4 members – maximum 8) and are interested in acquiring a high level of adherence to evidence-based models. SIDBT-ETS offers guidance meetings to affiliate members to form a team.

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS

The training requires participants to organize themselves to become a DBT team and have attended the introductory workshop for basic training (first level of training in DBT).

HOW IT WORKS

Since its initial development in the 1980s, DBT has proven to be effective for issues related to emotional disregulation. We know that severe difficulties in regulating emotions lead people to face more problems in many areas of life and that these problems manifest themselves in various ways and according to different levels of gravity. DBT principles have been specifically designed for cases that often present new challenges to therapists. One of the advantages of principle-based treatment is that it can be versatile enough to adapt to the specific situations, cultures and contexts of the people it addresses. The DBT has been designed and implemented in more countries around the world.

DBT Intensive Training is a complete study program designed for DBT teams. It aims to assist teams to train on the content of the DBT standard, to learn how to distribute the DBT through teamwork, and to be able to access the different validated adaptations (for adolescents, eating disorders, addictions, PTSD). Includes 4 hours of specific content for suicidal risk assessment, management and treatment of suicidal behaviour. Frontal lessons, role-playing and exercises will be used to teach DBT theory and strategies in depth.

The training consists of a first part of 20 modules for a total of 5 days (30 hours) led by certified trainers and provided over 5 days of training. Each module includes the study of material and homework. The second part includes about 9 months of autonomous clinical work of the team, supervised by a mentor (with three meetings between the first and second part). The third part includes 5 days of training (30 hours) in the form of a team consultation on the DBT programme developed and a clinical case followed. It enables the team to implement DBT in its clinical context and assess its sustainability.

PREPARATION FOR TRAINING

Teaching materials will be provided during the training.

All participants must have read M.Linehan's 2 manuals:
