Behavioral Tech

M. Linehan, in 1998, founded the Linehan Institute (initially under the name Marie Institute of Behavioral Technology), a collaborative organization aimed at providing therapists and clients with treatment that adheres to the DBT model and is in line with empirical research data.
The next step was the establishment, in 2002, of Behavioral Tech, LLC, as an affiliated subsidiary of the Linehan Institute, which provides DBT training to mental health specialists, worldwide, who work with severe and complex clients. Specifically, Behavioral Tech focuses on both DBT training and the implementation and evaluation of treatment effectiveness.
Behavioral Tech, in more than two decades of experience, has helped to disseminate DBT through numerous training initiatives (to date there are more than 50,000 therapists trained). It also recognizes local mental health societies and organizations that faithfully and rigorously follow the DBT model, including SIDBT, which is the national referent as meeting the requirements of "Behavioral Tech Affiliate." As a result of this extensive outreach, DBT treatment is now present in the U.S., Australia, Canada, Egypt, South Africa, Greece, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Turkey, Russia, the U.K., South Korea, China, Taiwan, and several Arab, Asian and Latin American countries (see behavioraltech.org/about-us/our-impact/)
Behavioral Tech has recently embarked on a conversion to a non-profit corporation, which will also change its name in the near future. It has also become autonomous from Linehan Institute.
